Proposals
As our collective space grows there has been more and more interest from people hoping to hold events and/or questions about usage of space. In order to make proposals easier and more concise, so that we can more efficiently get back to you, here are some things you should know. And as always, please feel free to send your proposals to merchantsofreality@gmail.com
Event Proposals
- To help us get an idea of the event you would like to hold please send us samples of the artists work (pictures, links, music, etc.)
- We ask that you give at least 3 weeks notice for all event proposals.
- Our space is 100% hard alcohol free and we ask that there be no outside alcohol during your event. (We also ask that “no outside alcohol” be written on any publicized images for your event)
- Merchants of Reality takes 30% of the door proceeds unless a flat rate is negotiated prior to the event.
- Our event space has a maximum capacity of 99 people and cannot support larger events at this time.

Calling all artistS!
The moment you’ve been waiting for! As of September 1st Merchants of Reality will officially have availability in our 24 hour collective workspace and we’re looking for potential artists to come, collaborate with us as well as give you the space to work on the art that you love the most!
We here at MOR have been working tirelessly for over a year now, making our dreams a reality. Now we are searching for other dedicated artists who would like to do the same.

What we are looking for in potential artists:
*Dedication! - “It doesn’t matter what kind of art form you choose as long as you do it with all of your heart.” Many of us here work in many different mediums, what we all have in common is how dedicated we are to our art as well as our collective. What are you dedicated to and passionate about?
*What is your art? - Please send us examples of your work!
*Why do you want to be an artist at merchants of Reality ?
*Communication! - Here at MOR we realize that community AND a functioning business cannot work without both critical, supportive and open communication. Are you willing to communicate with any/all of us in the good times and the rough patches? Are you willing/ready to be real 24/7? (This is a necessity for anyone hoping to be a Merchant!)
*Collaboration - We all have our own projects, but this machine cannot function unless all the cogs are working together. Are you willing to work with us? (ie: events, promotion, workspace cleanliness, respect and responsibility for MOR equipment)
*Commitment - I know it’s a scary word to some, but the fact is for the functionality of our business and our community (which we are all very deeply invested in) we need to know that incoming artists are ready to invest in this amazing opportunity also. We are currently asking for a 6 month commitment for incoming artists.
*Positive Mental Attitude - Of course the world isn’t always sun shine and roses but we here at MOR are a posi-crew. We prefer love over hate, mixing hard work with fun and laughter. What’s the point in working if it’s not what you like to do?
*24 hour WORKspace - As I’m sure you are all well aware by now MOR is a WORKspace not a live/work space. This means you may work here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and a multitude of other Merchants will be doing the same. There will be painters, loud sounds, cooking, writing, sewing, etc. happening at all hours of the day and night, you are free to do the same. How fun does that sound!
As of July 22nd, 2012 we will be accepting proposals for space usage in a private studio beginning September 1st, 2012. All qualified applicants should submit a written proposal describing yourself, your art and how you would like to be a contributing member to the collective. Proposals will be reviewed so that we can set up a time to meet and chat ASAP.
